Spring 2017 Tree Planting Watering Program
Please note that due to the heavy rains in July the Village has not needed to fill the tree watering bags on recently planted parkway trees.
Generally, trees need one inch of precipitation per week. Weather during the month of July provided over seven inches of rainfall. Public Works Department Staff closely monitors the rainfall situation and will fill the “Gatorbags” (green colored drip style watering devices installed on the base of young trees) as needed. Trees will survive short periods of time with reduced precipitation. Over-watering of a tree is likely to cause stress on the tree and can lead to the tree’s death.
