New Diverging Diamond Interchange at Elmhurst Road on I-90
Beginning on Friday, June 16, traffic on Elmhurst Road crossing over I-90 is scheduled to be shifted into the new diverging diamond configuration. The scheduled is as follows:
- After the morning rush hour on Friday June 16, lane closures and traffic stops will be scheduled to direct traffic crossing I-90 on the Elmhurst Road Bridge into the new diverging diamond configuration. Drivers traveling in both directions will be guided onto the opposite sides of the bridge through new signalized intersections.
- Throughout that weekend, Elmhurst Road traffic flow and new traffic signal timing will be monitored. All ramps will remain closed with posted detours.
- On Monday, June 19, the two ramps carrying traffic to and from the east are scheduled to reopen.
- During the week of June 19, two new ramps carrying traffic to and from the west are scheduled to open.
Currently the Elmhurst Road ramps carrying traffic to and from east on I-90 are closed to traffic and a detour is posted.
Traffic at the intersection of Oakton Street and Elmhurst Road is reduced to one lane in each direction on both roads to complete intersection improvements. All lanes are scheduled to reopen the week of June 19.
