Elk Grove Village Breaks Ground on Elk Grove 2025 Long Range Infrastructure Plan
On Thursday, June 15, Elk Grove Village will break ground on renovations and additions to the Public Works Biesterfield Facility. This groundbreaking marks the commencement of the Elk Grove 2025 Long-Range Infrastructure Plan.
Earlier this year, the Mayor and Board of Trustees established Elk Grove 2025 to meet the Village’s needs today and well into our future. This long-rage capital plan includes public facility improvements, road improvements, streetscaping, bicycle/pedestrian projects, and drainage projects.

Public Works Biestefield Facility, 1635 Biesterfield Road
The Public Works Fleet Service Garage on Biesterfield Road was constructed in 1980. It was originally built in conjunction with the Elk Grove Park District, who assumed the rights to a portion of the building as well as the land it is on. For the past 37 years, the facility has served Public Works and the Village well, but the facility is in need of repairs. In addition, Public Works has recognized the need to serve the western portion of the community with an additional salt storage facility, which will reduce travel times and enhance snow plowing operations.
The Village has obtained the full ownership rights to the garage, in exchange for turning over Hanson Park (which the Village owned) to the Park District. The planned work, comprising a multi-purpose Public Works Biesterfield Facility, will include:
Complete façade overhaul of the existing building
Interior renovations to the existing building to improve operations
Addition of a salt barn to serve the western portion of the community
Additional storage space
Parking lot rehabilitation
Creation of a small nursery.
Construction and renovations to the Public Works Biesterfield Facility will begin following the groundbreaking, with substantial construction anticipated to be complete by the end of the year.
This ground-breaking is the first step in building the future of Elk Grove Village. The upgrades to this Public Works facility, along with the many infrastructure projects planned over the next 8 years, are setting the stage for the continued growth and success of our community.
